At the chiseled towers that tread the sky
Streamlined to prosper and venture better than
The brooding brick that lies about in boxes near where
The tractors trod the rows of wheat
Just down from the grid of the city streets where the
Times and lines and letters on signs
Remind us to keep up the rush
And I'm keeping up the rush

So I took my life a winding path
Put it in the tub and gave it a bath
But muddied it up and tried to iron out the wrinkles
So I put in a box straight and narrow
Covered it in paper and a pretty blue bow
Just don't look inside cause there you'll find a mess
That does not coincide with the image I'd like to express
The old crooked tree writhed its last
As we topped down the tower to make room for some stores
Just down from the lake the used to be the river we dammed up
And the pavement burns your ten tiny toes

Beautiful birth, selling out
